SecureDrop 2.4.2 Released

We’re pleased to announce that SecureDrop 2.4.2 has been released. This is a security release. A complete list of changes can be found on GitHub.

What’s new in SecureDrop 2.4.2?

For administrators

  • Security: The kernel has been updated to version 5.15.57 which includes mitigations for the security vulnerability known as “Retbleed”.

    Retbleed impacts servers with Intel Core generation 6, 7 and 8 and AMD Zen 1, Zen 1+, and Zen 2 processors. It can only be exploited by attackers who have the ability to execute code on the SecureDrop servers. (Issue, Pull Request)

What administrators need to do

SecureDrop Application and Monitor Servers will be updated to SecureDrop 2.4.2 automatically within 24 hours of the release. As with previous releases, we recommend that you update your Tails workstations to the latest version of Tails and the latest version of SecureDrop. Please see our upgrade guide for instructions.
