SecureDrop Workstation 1.8.0 and SecureDrop Inbox 1.5.0 are now available. These releases bring Debian 13 “trixie” templates to SecureDrop Workstation following the end of full support for Debian 12 “bookworm.”

No user action is required, as these updates will automatically be installed as part of your regular preflight updates. However, please note that the update process will take longer than normal. It may appear frozen at the 35% mark for up to 45 minutes, but it will still be working in the background.

User-facing changes:

  • JXL image files can now be viewed.
  • A new application is used to open plain text files (.txt).
  • Better support for 1366x768 resolution screens.

For a full list of changes, please refer to the changelog for this release.
